For those who enjoy the countryside, the hill walking next to the village is excellent, and if you don't have the desire to hike the extra 500m vertical from the pueblo up to the top, there is always the telecabin to take you to the summit of one of the mountains, (the Calamorro), which offers spectacular views. From there there are short walks along the top to other viewpoints, such as 'Mirador del Lobo' shown here, and then you can return in the telecabin.
Or you can take one of the many marked walking routes which will take
you as far as Mijas, Alhaurin on the other side of the mountain, or back
down to Benalmadena Pueblo.
At the top of the cable car you’ll also find the ‘Jardin de Aguilas’. (The Garden of Eagles). There’s a daily show where you can see and interact with eagles and birds of prey.
If you want to explore slightly further away from the village, there are numerous established trails to suit all abilities within a 30 or 40 minute drive. The mountains are home to an abundance of wildlife, lora and fauna, and can be explored all year round. Birdwatchers can also benefit from a diverse variety not seen in the UK.
